Victory And Determination In The Lord: Prevailing In The Word

At almost any meeting, or in any time of fellowship with other believes, the term victory is usually brought up in one way or another. Congregations sing "I've got the victory, you've got the victory, we all have the victory now". For the most part, the true idea of victory has been lost in the celebration of defeat of an enemy. Of course, the victory that most believers speak of is the reality of being delivered from some opposition or stronghold. We could all certainly celebrate that fact. Yet the meaning and the reason for victory is deeper. The word victory means deliverance. Victory is the kind of deliverance which brings preservation to an otherwise deteriorating situation. Again the word victory comes from the Hebrew root word meaning to be free. Victory makes us free. The question here is, free from what? The answer is "free from trouble ". As we put this all together, we will see that deliverance from the enemy should not be the only goal. Many believers "get the victory" and celebrate but never move on. The victory is not the end of all things; it is only the means to the end. Victory is the "means of success". The purpose of victory is to deliver us from the opposition the enemy places in our way as we move toward the high prize that the Lord has set before us. So, here it is, victory is what the Lord uses to "clear the way for us to be successful". Once we have the victory, we can celebrate but then we must move on to the intended goal. Victory clears the way.
