As for me, I am alive indeed and living in a mountainous town in Abuja. Every day, I hear the same old story from my wife. " Nothing is right here in this stinking shit-hole!" My wife feels trapped here. "Is this what you dreamed of in Africa?" She nags at me night and day whenever the slightest thing goes wrong -no water or no electricity or a broken down washing machine. "It is decrepit!" I don't even know; what is the meaning of the word 'decrepit'? I asked her to find the meaning for me in her dictionary. I've heard the word too often. It even invades my dreams. A female voice from a female I hardly know screams at me: "You are decrepit!" She found it in the adult dictionary and read it to me: "Worn out by age or long use." She read on, " 'decrepitude, noun, a state of being worn out.' " That is the way my wife describes our life now! I was horrified and speechless. I know money is always a problem, but things are not that bad, just look at the others who have nothing! Even our dog, Rosa, refuses to eat her leading brand canned food bought in the new supermarket. She prefers my wife's mouth-ripping, spicy fish stews. Bloody decrepit dog! Decrepit bitch. She is also a decrepit. Just wait till I see her in my nightmares again, I'll show her 'decrepit'!
