FIXING A BROKEN COLLEGE MINISTRY, comes out of Arliss Dickerson's own experiences when he went to Arkansas State and his work with many college ministry leaders, both on campus and at church, from around the country with whom he has worked and encouraged. He describes his first year at ASU as, "worse than my year in Vietnam in the war." The key word for anything Arliss writes, does, or says is "practical." His workshops and books are known for their very simple, down to earth suggestions and thoughts. They are not Bible studies (although he does that and believes in it), and they are not great philosophical papers. They are brief and to the point. They are that way because he has slept on the floor on missions trips, eaten lots of pizza with students, and been amazed at all that students can do when they trust the Lord with their whole lives. He is one of the wonderful college ministry family . . . that no one else gets . . . other than someone who has been a part of that overworked, under paid, and under-appreciated family as well.
