Determined to uncover the mystery of how a modern-day camera memory card ended up in her antique great, great grandmother's locket, which she has had around her neck since she was ten, Madelyn travels to the small town where the pictures on the card seemed to have been taken. Since she had not taken the pictures, she wants to discover who did, and how they got in her locket?In the process, Madelyn ends up falling into a past alternate reality, where she meets Niyol, a Paiute warrior who has been fighting what was known as the Snake War, which had been going on and off for several years, between the Paiutes and the U.S. Military. Because of her growing feelings for Niyol, Madelyn believes she has been brought to this place in time to save him from dying in the war, which she knew was part of his history.
