Following The Practices Of Christ (Lenten)

We all want to have joy and confidence. We want inner peace and personal fulfillment. The reason some of us believe we ought to follow Jesus has to do with this very fact. Jesus talked about our having his joy in all of its fullness. He spoke of our having his peace, which nothing could take from us. He was the freest, most confident, most loving person the world has ever known. Why? The answer seems to be that it was at least in part because of certain practices in Jesus' life. He possessed a certain know how about good living. So what I propose in a series of messages is that we consider these practices of Jesus. We can let these become, at least to some degree, the practices of our own lives. Then perhaps we will better know the joy and peace of his life. This is consistent with the overall goal of this Lenten season: To call people to follow the example of Jesus.
