I knew Mom had memory problems, but I could not get myself to think it could be "Alzheimer's". So when the diagnosis came in fall of 2001, it was odd that I felt a strange sense of relief. I thought, now we know; now we can move forward. When her doctor said she needed full-time care I knew I could not put her into a nursing home. I had to at least try to care for her myself. And so we moved Mom into our home and we moved into her world. During the almost two years that I cared for Mom, every day was a myriad of emotions and new challenges. I wanted to remember these details to share with her doctor, so I began to write things down. These basic notes evolved into a diary that tells the story of our family's experience with Alzheimer's disease. I hope this book will provide encouragement to others facing a similar journey. -- inside front flap.
