Intuitive logical thinking would suggest that Revelation should be: One biblically coherent and complete narration, That uses only natural and biblical symbols, To retell God's consistent work from beginning to end; That reveals Jesus and his resurrection as the focus; To call for decisive response from every person, For the creation which God loves and will glorify; To close God's written oracle to humankind. But almost no one has been able to demonstrate these. Through the lens of God bringing his created order from the beginning to his final Sabbath in Jesus Christ, and noticing an overlooked peculiarity of Revelation (chapter 20 is glaringly different to the rest of the chapters), the ""mysteries"" of Revelation are shown to be plainly manifested truths already in the Bible rather than esoteric and hidden teachings still to be deciphered. Centering Jesus in all things, Revelation filters out inconsequential and errant teachings and highlights the essential core of Judeo-Christianity to prompt a response from every person made in God's image. Poignantly, it shines a light on the current global crises--environmental, political, religious, and economic. This book's common-sense, context-first exegesis sets it apart from most other Revelation commentaries on the market. ""What Christopher Fung has done in this book, above many other admirable things, is to refuse to put the cart of systematic theology before the horse of Biblical history. That is the highest praise I can give to this book because the approach in this book can unlock other puzzles in other books of the Bible!"" --L. T. Jeyachandran, formerly of Ravi Zacharias Ministries in India and Singapore ""Perhaps you are convinced that Revelation is a very important part of scripture but have given up attempting to understand the book as a whole. It's easy to be uplifted by passages of soaring prose and majestic description, but how to make sense of the book as a whole? Christopher Fung has done us a real service in this unusual and original book. He is convinced that Revelation is given to open up God's purposes to us, not obscure them. His thesis is that the book is not a complex timetable for the end of history but an unveiling of the crucified and risen Jesus, the cosmic Lord of history. Drawing on his deep understanding of the themes of creation and sabbath, Fung demonstrates how God's purposes are for the recreation and renewal of all creation. You may not agree with every exegetical comment but you will find the book refreshing, accessible and stimulating."" --Paul Bendor-Samuel, Executive Director of the Oxford Centre for Mission Studies Christopher Fung received his PhD in physics. While practicing physics, he also turned his attention to the beauty of the Bible. Through journal publications and speaking engagements, he has called attention to an often-missed teaching, namely that Jesus, as Lord of the Sabbath, will guide his creation to its final destiny. His latest discovery, as encapsulated in the title of this book, is yet another validation of this foundational observation.
