The dictionary defines mountains as something that is part of the land that rises above everything else. In Christendom, mountains represent strongholds, barriers, obstacles, impediments, hindrances that cause an obstruction to a person's movement and advancement. Simply put, anything that blocks your way or hinders you from making progress or from taking the next step is a mountain. Mountains come in different forms and manifest through various challenges, such as stagnation, infirmities, barrenness, poverty, affliction, sickness, limitation, etc. An example of mountain of affliction was found in the book of Mark 10:46-52. Here was a full-grown man who had a mountain of infirmity of blindness. This mountain took away his sight, and this caused a very heavy limitation for him, so he resorted to begging for a living. But the moment he heard Jesus passing by, he knew he had to do something about the mountain confronting him, and that was he had to ask for help from Jesus to move that mountain for him, and he cried out for help. Everyone told him to be silent, but he cried out more, and he received his sight. Alas, the mountain was moved, and he could start making progress.
