Richard is amazed by their encounter with Socrates and the sub-plot that leads to, and is thrilled getting to know Beethoven and attend his 9th and 20th Symphonies. He also has very mixed reactions to their encounters with the Angel Josiah. And it takes a while to warm up to the occasional racy episodes and Rachel's point of view that he often finds quite radical.
