The Dancer's Power The dancer's power, When all else fails except the earth; The blood of the eagle in flight Pulsing in hot arteries; Air circulating, clouds ringing And nothing so modest as the heart. But look you How he leaps for joy, How joy propels him, Holds him aloft for that moment, The egg of eternity! The dancer's total rest in flight, Figure upon figure - It's an alarming, A terrific, terrifying dance That turns us inside out, Drifts us to the moon and back, Clouds our vision, Tears fall. Why do tears fall? This is not easy to explain. Why do tears fall? I think it is because we are So happy to be born; There is no greater beauty, No greater fortune. This I believe. *
