Hope has nothing to do with your past, nothing to do with your present, but has everything to do with your future. That's not to say that your hope isn't impacted by your past and your present, just that hope is looking ahead and not behind. It's my belief that hope and faith have a unique intersection in which one can't be explained without mentioning the other. I've seen and been through too much to not have faith in God which is where my hope resides.
