As C. S. Lewis has famously quipped, Christ was either "liar, lunatic or lord". Even on a purely human level, the impact of this "one solitary life" has been far reaching and history changing. This is the man God declares will overthrow this "present evil world" and who "in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords" (1Tim. 6:15). Our concern here is not with devotional applications that give you goosebumps and warm the cockles of your heart. Our preoccupation is rather with "sound doctrine" that will produce a "sound mind" resulting in "sound speech". To that end, we will examine the portrait of Christ displayed in the Gospels and look upon the "son of David" and "Son of God" that Israel was told to BEHOLD.
