When the Nazis murder Reinhardt's lover, it forges a determination for revenge.War comes and Karl - in the army now - experiences the horror of the conflict and but he deserts and is reunited with Ben in Paris. Reinhardt is also in Paris with revenge on his mind. He persuades Karl to help him but the consequences couldn't have been imagined by either of them. Just when they think the way is clear to fly to freedom, Günter confronts them and Karl has to make the most difficult choice of his life ...
