Chamomile-Sunflower Friendship

Chamomile is the national flower of Russia and the sunflower is the national flower of the Ukraine. I have visited both countries and have friends in both. This book is dedicated to them and profits will go to those who suffer from the current 2022 war.But this is NOT a book about war. It is a book about friendship and the many aspects of friendship. Using slightly abstracted forms of a chamomile and sunflower (painted with acrylics on silk and stitched by hand) creates a continuum throughout this collection of photos and thoughts. They went traveling with me through the United States and Europe (Netherlands, Germany and Italy) in 2022, and were briefly installed in many public places. Temporary art installations leave no trace. "Photographs proof the existence of a temporary art installation and books are their means of sharing the idea." as Connie Tiegel describes in her included article "Why Using Temporary Art Installation". She ends with: "The installation itself is a means to foster information and education about certain subjects. Friendships need nurturing and caring to thrive. This book celebrates friendship in its many forms and provides the means to encourage sustainability."
