Jesus encouraged his followers that even if one could give "a cup of cold water only... he shall in no wise lose his reward" (Matthew 10:42). The author uses this declaration as a springboard to build up Christians and induce every one to persevere in good deeds, no matter how small they may seem. The book itself becomes "a cup of cold water" of encouragement to every Christian, assuring all of us that whatever we can do is not insignificant.
