They come from a tropical paradise - these friendly, warm, and smiling people whose character is a blend of the oriental ethnic, feudal and modern. But Filipinos have always been drawn to the west and the world outside. They are scattered across a wide diaspora around the globe while they maintain a tight unbreakable connection with their families in their home country. They leave their country to work overseas and assume the prime responsibility for the livelihood of their families and extended families. While their values are influenced by life outside, most Filipinos remain totally family-focussed, fully dedicated to them at their own individual self-expense. Abroad, they navigate through the harshest work situations with heroic perseverance. They would face difficult odds. Some stayed for good, while others remained expat workers.
