Fatherlessness has reached epidemic levels in the United States. Children without fathers are more likely to perform poorly in school, to be members of gangs, to be incarcerated and to suffer a long list of other adverse effects. Unfortunately, the adverse effects don't stop at childhood; they carry on into adulthood. Men who grew up without fathers typically have difficulty processing the emotional scars created during their childhood. As a result, many of the wounds of fatherlessness carry on to the next generation. The purpose of this book is to help men Biblically address the ill effects of fatherlessness, and the residue that's left long after they enter adulthood. This is done through the story of the relationship between my father and me. My father was absent much of my life, even before my parents divorced. Little did I know that one day I would become my father's caretaker. At the end of each chapter, there is a one-page personal Bible study section to address some of the topics covered in the chapter. I will warn you now, some of the questions and scriptures may be probing and "hit home", addressing some feelings you may have buried years ago. But that's okay. God's word is designed to penetrate the heart. It is in the heart where the Holy Spirit begins His healing process.
